CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Turtwig has a very direct relationship with earth, water and sun. Its shell is made of hardened soil, while its body photosynthesizes in the light. Near the lakes where it lives, drinking also contributes to its protection's strength. This small silhouette thus brings together several parts of the landscape, as though its own body preserved a living portion of it.

A detail worth noticing

Turtwig's leaf can indicate thirst. Pokémon Pearl notes that it wilts when Turtwig lacks water. This detail lets its condition be read through something other than its shell, whose appearance also depends on its physical balance.
