CARDEX BACKGROUND
The story behind this Trainer card
Superior Energy Retrieval discards two cards from your hand to recover four Basic Energy cards from your discard pile. If you cannot pay with two cards, the Item cannot be used. You cannot recover a card discarded by this effect, preventing immediate recycling of a resource that has just served as payment.
Background on this Trainer card’s printed effect; its edition, language and finish remain distinct.A detail worth noticing
The exclusion of newly discarded cards applies even if one is Basic Energy. All four recovered cards must qualify independently of that payment, and they enter your hand rather than attaching to your Pokémon.
