CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

The little ball attached to Cherubi concentrates nutrients it needs to evolve. In sunlight, its body turns red. When the ball's reserves run out, it withers; the Pokédex sees this as a sign of approaching evolution. Yet bird Pokémon seek that same ball as food, so Cherubi flees when they approach. Its vital resource therefore also attracts predators, while its color signals the ball's sweetness.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield connects Cherubi's red color with the sweeter taste of its nutrient ball. Pokémon Sword says birds covet it. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire associate exhaustion of these reserves with Cherubi's evolution.
