CARDEX BACKGROUND

The role of this Energy

This older Metal Energy provides one Metal Energy and reduces damage received by its holder by ten after Weakness and Resistance. It can protect a non-Metal Pokémon, but that choice has a trade-off: damage dealt by that Pokémon's own attacks is also reduced by ten. The exact order of this second calculation varies between printing texts. The card trades protection against offensive power according to the holder's type.

Background on this Special Energy’s effect; the printed text, edition and finish of each card remain distinct.

A detail worth noticing

Early printings of this Metal Energy allow its defensive reduction on a non-Metal holder, while reducing that Pokémon's offensive damage. One printing places that calculation before Weakness and Resistance, another after: the exact printed text matters.

Printed card effect
