The story behind this Trainer card

Wally's Compassion removes all damage from one of your Mega Evolution Pokémon ex. If damage was actually healed, all Energy attached to that Pokémon then returns to your hand. Complete healing therefore comes with a change in Energy preparation. Resources are recovered rather than discarded, but the healed Pokémon does not retain the Energy it carried before this intervention.

A detail worth noticing

Wally's Compassion's Energy return is conditional on healing at least some damage. Its destination is the player's hand, not the discard pile. The effect does not ask you to choose one Energy: all attached Energy returns.
