CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Chespin moves with wooden protection covering its head and back. The Pokédex emphasizes the strength of this casing, capable of withstanding considerable impacts. Its small silhouette should not obscure that defense. What resembles a plant shell forms real armor, giving the young Pokémon toughness its size might not suggest.

A detail worth noticing

Chespin xy8-9 searches its deck for a Grass Energy with its first attack, reveals it, and adds it to the hand without immediately attaching it. Seed Bomb deals 30 damage for Grass plus two Colorless. Kouki Saitou illustrated this printing, where preparing a resource and striking are separate decisions.
