CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Skuntank digs a burrow in the ground and keeps an unbearably foul-smelling liquid in its belly. It sprays it from the tip of its tail to repel enemies, sometimes over several dozen meters. The smell varies with what it has eaten and grows worse if the liquid sits for a long time. The Pokédex describes a defense an opponent should fear before even approaching its shelter.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon X gives Skuntank's spray a range of fifty meters. Pokémon Sword notes that its odor depends on diet. Its defense therefore goes beyond a long-distance jet: its composition changes with what it eats.
