CARDEX BACKGROUND
The story behind this Trainer card
Crushing Hammer flips a coin and discards an Energy from an opposing Pokémon if the result is heads. The Item can reduce its Energy preparation, but chance first decides whether that action is allowed. The target is not restricted to the Active Spot. The effect does not specify Basic Energy either, so that narrower category should not be imposed on it.
Background on this Trainer card’s printed effect; its edition, language and finish remain distinct.A detail worth noticing
Crushing Hammer removes an Energy after heads without requiring it to belong to your opponent's Active Pokémon. The flip does not automatically select its target. On tails, the text grants no Energy removal to compensate for the attempt.
