CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Latias is sensitive to human emotions. The Pokédex explains that a hostile attitude makes it ruffle its feathers and give a warning cry. Its down can also reflect light, allowing it to disappear from view or change appearance. This sensitivity gives the dragon a particular way to protect itself: reading the intentions around it, then responding with a warning or concealment.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Latias can communicate with humans telepathically, explains the Pokémon Y Pokédex. This faculty adds to its sensitivity to others’ emotions and its manipulation of light. It allows an encounter without spoken words to be imagined, while remaining a fact attributed to the species rather than a particular illustration.
