CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Archeops could fly, but the Pokédex describes it as more skilled at hunting on the ground. Taking off required a long run: it had to gather momentum over several kilometers before leaving the ground. Its wing muscles were apparently too weak for immediate takeoff. Its ancient feathers are so fine that reconstructing them requires great expertise. Its portrait therefore differs from that of a bird always at home in the air, despite its supposed place among their ancestors.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Pokémon Sword puts Archeops's necessary takeoff run at four kilometers at around 40 km/h. Ultra Moon attributes this need for momentum to its weak wings. Ultra Sun emphasizes the difficulty of faithfully reconstructing its very fine feathers.
