CARDEX BACKGROUND
Pancham chews a leaf to look fearsome, then glares at those it encounters. The act soon falls apart: its smile returns when the tension disappears. It follows Pangoro as a leader and copies its movements to learn fighting and hunting. Misbehavior can cost it its leaf for a while. The Pokédex describes a boisterous apprentice seeking its mentor's approval rather than a true tough guy.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Ultra Sun says Pancham loses its leaf as punishment after serious mischief. Pokémon Sword explains that it learns by copying Pangoro. Its tough-guy accessory is therefore also part of a relationship of guidance and education.
