CARDEX BACKGROUND
Huntail hides in depths where light barely reaches the water. Yet its eyes can see in this darkness. Rather than pursuing prey rapidly, it waves its tail, which resembles a small fish and can light up. When an animal approaches, its large mouth swallows it whole. Its thick backbone withstands deep-sea pressure. The Pokédex describes a discreet hunter whose lure and resilience matter more than swimming speed.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Ultra Sun specifies that Huntail is not a particularly powerful swimmer despite its underwater life. Emerald credits its back with pressure-resistant robustness and its false fish tail with glowing eyes. Pokémon Ultra Moon also reports a local omen associated with its washing ashore.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
