CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Accelgor abandoned its heavy shell to gain the speed of an agile fighter. Yet this change makes it vulnerable to drying out; several layers of thin membrane now wrap its body to retain moisture. It sprays poison while attacking, and its swift silhouette has even inspired film and comic-book characters. The Pokédex presents an advantage gained at the cost of protection that it must rebuild differently.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon White connects Accelgor's agility with losing its shell. Pokémon Shield explains that the bands around it then prevent it from drying out. Its new speed therefore depends on balancing freedom of movement with protection against dry air.
