CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Gimmighoul inhabits an old chest that can be mistaken for a forgotten object. The Pokédex says it was supposedly born inside a treasure chest around fifteen hundred years ago. Those who try to steal its contents risk losing their life energy. In a shop, the chest may remain in a corner because no one recognizes the Pokémon hidden inside. Its ordinary shelter thus becomes a trap for thieves and a hiding place from others.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Violet notes that Gimmighoul can go unnoticed in a shop corner: the chest is plainly there, but no one knows it is a Pokémon. Pokémon Scarlet places its presumed birth around fifteen hundred years earlier.
