CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Monferno controls its tail flame to keep an opponent at the right distance. Yet it does not rely solely on fire: walls and ceilings provide footholds for aerial attacks. In Hisui, the blue color of its face is presented as a clue to its future strength. The Pokédex thus combines mobility and precision. Monferno leaps in several directions, then chooses the range at which its burning tail can strike.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Omega Ruby credits Monferno with precise adjustment of its tail fire's intensity to control distance. Pokémon Y recalls that it also attacks from walls and ceilings. Pokémon Legends: Arceus associates deeper facial blue with its growth.
