The Pokémon’s story

In the laboratories described by the Pokédex, Mewtwo is born from years of experiments on Mew's genes. The result is far more than a simple copy: the entries describe an extremely violent temperament. Behind this artificial origin is a Pokémon shaped by the experiments that created it. Its story begins less in nature than in humanity's desire to recombine nature's secrets.

A detail worth noticing

In Base Set, Mewtwo discards one of its Energy to use Barrier. During the opponent's next turn, damage and other effects of attacks directed at it are prevented. Its other attack, Psychic, instead increases by 10 damage for each Energy attached to the Defending Pokémon.
