CARDEX BACKGROUND
Mimikyu has made itself a Pikachu costume to look less frightening. Yet the disguise does not dispel its mystery: its true appearance remains unknown, and one entry recounts the fatal shock of a scholar who looked underneath. Usually calm and solitary, it becomes violently agitated if someone tries to lift its cloth. Its wish to appear less frightening is thus protected by a boundary it refuses to let others cross.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later. The Pokédex entries do not all describe the same fate for those who looked beneath Mimikyu's disguise. Sun mentions a death caused by fear; Shield reports a mysterious illness affecting a researcher. Both accounts emphasise the danger without revealing the appearance concealed by the cloth.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
