CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
On ancient tablets, Unown's shapes resemble carved symbols. Yet the Pokédex leaves a question unanswered: did these forms inspire language, or did writing exist before them? Each shape deepens the sense of reading a message without knowing how to decipher it. Unown's story lies in this mystery, somewhere between a living creature and a character from a forgotten alphabet.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Unown E does not strike directly. If the opposing Bench is not full, its Hidden Power looks at the opponent's hand, chooses a Basic Pokémon, and puts it onto that Bench. A switch with the Defending Pokémon follows; the card specifies that the opponent chooses the Defender to switch.
