CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Shroomish occupies the least brightly lit part of the forest. In the damp soil, it often stays hidden beneath fallen leaves and feeds on their decay. This discreet setting is both its shelter and its food supply. Its presence reminds us that a forest does not live only in its branches: another kind of activity continues at ground level, among things slowly transforming.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Shroomish in this printing has only one attack: for one Colorless Energy, it deals 10 damage and makes the Defending Pokémon Asleep without a coin flip. Atsuko Nishida illustrated this card, whose Sleep effect accompanies a modest but clearly defined damage amount.
