CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Wugtrio resembles Dugtrio so closely that it was once mistaken for a regional form of the latter. Yet the Pokédex classifies it as a fish Pokémon. Its familiar appearance can also mislead about its temperament: it is aggressive, coils its long bodies around prey and drags them to its den. An outward resemblance therefore hid two important differences: membership in another species and its way of catching what it hunts.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Violet recalls that Wugtrio was mistakenly considered a regional form of Dugtrio before being recognized as a fish Pokémon. Pokémon Scarlet describes its distinctive hunt: it seizes prey with its long bodies and pulls them into its den.
