CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Cubone wears its most painful memory on its head. Its departed mother's skull hides its face and accompanies it wherever it goes. When grief returns, its crying resonates inside, turning the helmet into an echo chamber. Its silhouette thus tells of an enduring attachment: the protection we see is also the visible sign of an absence.

A detail worth noticing

Cubone sv03.5-104's Double Slap costs one Fighting Energy and flips two coins. Ten damage is counted for each heads: zero if both land tails, 20 if both land heads. Shinya Komatsu illustrated this printing; the name does not announce two automatic hits.
