CARDEX BACKGROUND

The story behind this Trainer card

Team Rocket's Great Ball flips a coin to determine the stage of the Pokémon to search for. On heads, you search for a Team Rocket's Evolution Pokémon; on tails, a Basic Pokémon from that team. The card found is revealed and taken into your hand, then the deck is shuffled. Both results therefore open a search, but in different categories.

Background on this Trainer card’s printed effect; its edition, language and finish remain distinct.

A detail worth noticing

A tails result for Team Rocket's Great Ball does not simply mean failure. It directs the search toward a Basic Pokémon from that team. Heads instead targets an Evolution, always retaining the same required affiliation.
