CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Aerodactyl dominated the skies in prehistoric times and caught prey with a jaw of saw-like teeth. Researchers reconstructed it from DNA preserved in amber, but the Pokédex warns that this restoration may remain imperfect. Released into the present world, it proved fiercer than expected. It was highly capable in flight, but much slower on the ground. Its return thus combines scientific achievement with the difficulty of understanding an extinct predator.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword doubts that Aerodactyl can be restored perfectly, even from amber. Pokémon Ultra Moon describes a great aerial hunter with little agility on the ground. The limits of reconstruction and of its movements qualify its image as an invincible predator.
