Nebel der Sagen / #034/64
Printed language: German · Pokémon
CARDEX BACKGROUND
Malamar attracts prey by making the patterns on its body glow. If prey watches this light for too long, it can hypnotise it, then wrap it in its tentacles. Their sharp tips also help subdue its catch. The Pokédex relates that ill-intentioned people seek to use this influence, and some legends even credit it with momentous historical events. Its power has thus fuelled distrust as much as the stories surrounding it.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Shield presents as a rumour the idea that Malamar’s hypnosis has changed the course of history. Pokémon Ultra Moon provides a more concrete detail: its glowing patterns attract prey, and the tips of its tentacles are sharp.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
