CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Diancie appeared as a spontaneous mutation of Carbink. Its gleaming pink body attracts attention, but its uniqueness also lies in what it can produce. By squeezing its hands together, it compresses carbon in the air and creates many diamonds in an instant. The Pokédex thus describes an unexpected origin and power connected to a precise material. Behind its crystals' sparkle is a transformation rather than mere decoration.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Diancie's diamonds come from carbon molecules in the air, according to Pokémon Y. It compresses them by squeezing its hands. Pokémon X notes that it is a spontaneous mutation of Carbink: its body's beauty and its power therefore belong to the same Pokémon, not two distinct species.
