CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Croconaw closes its jaws on a target and almost never lets go. Its fangs curve like fishhooks and stay deeply embedded; it may even break them without releasing its grip. Others then grow back, keeping its mouth a formidable weapon. The Pokédex notes that it always has forty-eight teeth. This ability to replace them explains why a lost tooth does not interrupt its hunting method for long.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon X counts forty-eight teeth in Croconaw's mouth and says a lost fang grows back. Pokémon Omega Ruby compares their shape to fishhooks. Its bite therefore owes its effectiveness to the teeth's shape as much as their renewal.
