CARDEX BACKGROUND
Hitmontop balances on its head and spins like a top to deliver successive kicks. Rotation lets it attack while defending itself, and it moves faster this way than by walking. Against an opponent, it sometimes begins with a headstand that disorients them before it strikes. The Pokédex says it can spin so fast that it gradually burrows into the ground.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Omega Ruby states that Hitmontop travels faster on its head than on foot. Pokémon Sword adds that its rotation can make it sink into the earth. This spectacular movement is therefore also a means of travel, not only a fighting technique.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
