CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Klink consists of two gears that turn together to generate the energy it needs to live. Their compatibility seems fixed from the outset: they do not form lasting combinations with other gears. Humans are said to have observed this Pokémon before inventing certain cogwheel mechanisms. The Pokédex thus presents an inseparable pair of parts whose movement is vital. Separating or replacing them is not equivalent to repairing an ordinary object.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield says humans supposedly took inspiration from Klink to invent gears. Pokémon Black notes that its two cogs do not attach to other partners. This technological model is therefore, for the Pokémon, a uniquely compatible relationship.
