CARDEX BACKGROUND

The role of this Energy

Shield Energy provides Metal only to a Metal Pokémon and must be discarded from another type. Opposing attacks deal ten less damage to its Metal holder before Weakness and Resistance. The card combines an attachment restriction with a defensive reduction whose calculation order is specified in this wording.

Background on this Special Energy’s effect; the printed text, edition and finish of each card remain distinct.

A detail worth noticing

The ten-damage reduction occurs before Weakness and Resistance rather than afterward. It is not healing of existing counters either: it decreases incoming attack damage against the holder.
