CARDEX BACKGROUND
Grafaiai travels through the forest leaving patterns on trees. It coats its fingers in toxic saliva to make these marks, whose color depends on what it has eaten. Each individual has its own design and reproduces it again and again throughout its life. The Pokédex thus connects food, saliva, and Grafaiai's visual identity. Its marks are not random splashes: they follow a recognizable shape particular to the individual that left them.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Pokémon Scarlet connects the shade of Grafaiai's poisonous saliva with its diet. Pokémon Violet specifies that each paints a personal pattern and repeats that same design throughout its life. Saliva color and pattern shape thus follow different rules.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
