CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Cursola's spectral energy overflows its shell and forms a spirit body around its core. This covering protects the soul within but endangers anyone who touches it. They become immobilized as though their body had turned to stone. The Pokédex therefore invites a different view of this silhouette: what surrounds the core is both a defense for the Pokémon and a contact threat.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Shield's entry compares the immobility suffered after touching Cursola's spirit body with stone. It does not describe a merely hard shell: Sword explains that this spectral covering protects the soul located in its core.
