CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Trapinch prepares its hunt by shaping the sand. Its funnel-shaped pit becomes a trap where it waits patiently for prey to slide in. Stones encountered during digging do not stop it: its powerful jaws crush them. At nightfall, it buries itself to sleep, continuing a life in which shelter, rest and the search for food are built in the same environment.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

The strength of Trapinch's jaws has a downside. Pokémon Ultra Sun explains that they are so heavy it cannot get up when it falls onto its back. Sandile take advantage of this vulnerable moment despite the power of its main weapon.
