CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Marill moves through water with help that its silhouette makes immediately visible. The ball on its tail acts as a float, while its fur repels water and dries quickly when it returns to land. Its ease does not depend on a single advantage. Several details of its body work together to ease the transitions between swimming, currents and returning to dry ground.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

To search for food beside a fast-flowing stream, Marill can wrap its tail around a tree trunk. Pokémon Alpha Sapphire explains that the tail is flexible and stretchy. Its float thus also becomes a way of staying anchored to the bank.
