The story behind this Trainer card
Battle Cage prevents effects of attacks and Abilities from opposing Pokémon from placing damage counters on Benched Pokémon. Its protection applies to both sides. However, it distinguishes such placements from attack damage, which still occurs as the parenthetical text specifies. The Stadium therefore does not make Benches invulnerable to every form of damage from an opponent.
