CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Mamoswine carries large ice tusks that grow as temperatures fall. Specimens have been found trapped in ten-thousand-year-old ice, and very ancient murals depict it. Its species was long thought extinct. The Pokédex mentions the heat wave following the ice age as a threat to its survival. Its current presence therefore connects today's cold landscapes with a very distant past.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword mentions ten-thousand-year-old murals of Mamoswine. Pokémon Shield explains that its icy tusks grow with the cold. Ancient images and specimens found in ice describe a species closely tied to cold climates.
