CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Near rivers, Phanpy digs a shelter in the ground and marks the surrounding area with its trunk. That same nose then becomes a grooming tool when it sprays itself with water. With other Phanpy, bathing becomes an exchange of splashes, followed by drying off beside the water. Its life thus unfolds through simple actions connected to the riverbank and the group.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

A gesture of affection from Phanpy can be difficult to receive. Pokémon Silver explains that it gives friendly trunk bumps, but with enough force to send the person it touches flying. Its power sometimes exceeds the gentleness of its intention.
