CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Anorith lived in warm seas about a hundred million years ago. Restored today from a fossil, it swims using eight small wings like oars. Its large claws grasp prey. Yet returning to the present ocean does not erase elapsed time: one entry explains that Anorith released into the sea fare poorly because the water's composition has changed. Its ancient form was adapted to an environment no longer exactly present.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield compares Anorith's eight wings with oars propelling it underwater. Pokémon Ultra Sun notes that a restored individual does not necessarily thrive in the modern sea, whose composition differs from that of its era.
