CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Clodsire lives at the bottom of ponds and swamps. It can carry Wooper on its back to ferry them across the water from one bank to another. This attentiveness does not leave it defenseless: when attacked, it extends large spines from its body to retaliate. Yet the Pokédex presents this action as risky, because it commits the entire animal to a counterattack. Between peaceful crossings and extreme reactions, Clodsire reveals two very different aspects of its aquatic life.

Pokémon Violet describes Clodsire as a ferryman for Wooper, carrying them on its back through swamps. Pokémon Scarlet emphasizes the danger of its spiny defense: the counterattack is powerful, but the entry presents it as a high-stakes gamble.
