CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Masquerain spreads four wings to change direction quickly. Its antennae bear patterns resembling large eyes, which intimidate enemies and sometimes signal a downpour when they look sad. Yet rain causes problems: moisture weighs down its wings and antennae. It then shelters in a sunny spot or a hollow tree to wait until dry. The Pokédex connects its threatening appearance with genuine vulnerability to bad weather.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire associates the expression of Masquerain's false eyes with an approaching downpour. Pokémon Ultra Moon explains that it waits out rain inside a hollow tree. This weather sign therefore accompanies a situation it prefers to avoid.
