CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Wailmer uses seawater with an obvious taste for play. It stores some inside its body, then expels it through the nostrils above its eyes to surprise humans. The same water accompanies it when it swims with its mouth open to eat. This large, round body thus alternates between feeding and splashing, with an ease that gives its water jets several uses.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sapphire describes Wailmer filling itself with water to bounce on land like a ball. The more it absorbs, the higher its bounces can go. Its roundness is therefore more than a shape adapted to marine life.
