CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Gastrodon has a soft body that cushions blows and regenerates torn-off parts. Pokédex entries suggest it once had a large shell; only a thin plate on its back supposedly remains. Today, it frequents shallow water and shorelines, where its shape and color vary with the environment. When attacked, it can release purple liquid to escape. Its fragile appearance thus conceals a remarkable ability to endure and repair injuries.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sun describes Gastrodon body parts regenerating within hours after a bite. Pokémon Legends: Arceus states that it eats beach sand and that differently colored individuals may fight. Pokémon Moon cites plankton as its main food.
