At nightfall, Volbeat lights the end of its body to communicate with its own kind. It varies the intensity and frequency of its flashes instead of emitting continuous light. When several gather, these signals can trace geometric figures in the sky. Illumise's sweet scent attracts it and sometimes accompanies these nighttime meetings. This luminous display is thus both a conversation between Pokémon and collective movement visible from afar.

Omega Ruby describes the light variations through which Volbeat exchanges signals. Alpha Sapphire adds that several Volbeat trace geometric shapes in the sky with their glowing tails and recalls their attraction to Illumise's scent.
