CARDEX BACKGROUND
The legend of Ninetales goes back to nine sages said to have joined together to bring it into being. Its nine tails add to this mysterious aura, and the Pokédex credits it with a very long life. It understands human speech but does not easily forget an insult. Grabbing one of its tails could even bring a lasting curse. Behind this Pokémon's elegance lie intelligence, memory and ancient beliefs.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Ninetales can use flickering flames to hypnotise its prey before catching it, according to Ultra Moon. Fire is not only used to burn: its movement becomes a way to divert attention. This tactic explains why an encounter with this Pokémon calls for wariness of both its gaze and its flames.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
