CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Bellsprout prefers warm, humid places where Bug-type Pokémon pass by. Its frail, flexible body lets it bend to avoid an attack, then grab prey with its vines. It can also spit a corrosive liquid. Its bud, which resembles a human face, has inspired comparisons with the mandrake of legend. The Pokédex thus contrasts a delicate silhouette with very rapid movements and a powerful chemical defense.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Pokémon Omega Ruby credits Bellsprout's fluid with the ability to dissolve iron. Pokémon Y reports a belief connecting it with a mandrake because of its bud. The corrosive effect is described as an ability; the legendary resemblance is a human interpretation.
