CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Grotle lives in forests near water. During the day, it may leave this environment to expose the leafy shell on its back to the sun. It also instinctively finds sources of pure water and can carry other Pokémon to them. The Pokédex therefore gives it a role beyond its own movements: it can guide companions to a resource. Its plant-covered shell and attraction to light constantly connect it to the landscape it travels through.

A detail worth noticing

Alpha Sapphire states that Grotle instinctively knows the locations of pure water sources and can carry other Pokémon to them on its back. Omega Ruby places it in damp forests and shows it exposing its leafy shell to the sun during the day.
