CARDEX BACKGROUND
Charizard travels through the sky in search of opponents strong enough to challenge it. Its fiery breath can melt rock, but the Pokédex says it does not direct that fire at weaker enemies. Its power therefore comes with a choice: fly high, test its strength and reserve its most destructive flames for battles it considers worthy. The flame on its tail also flares when it breathes fire.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Charizard's fiery breath can start forest fires, according to Pokémon Sword. The Pokédex does not present this fire as merely a display of strength: its consequences can affect an entire habitat. This detail gives a concrete sense of the heat this Pokémon carries within it.
