The role of this Energy

This Darkness Energy provides one Darkness Energy and strengthens certain attacks from its attached Pokémon. The bonus is ten damage against the opponent's Active Pokémon before Weakness and Resistance. It works only if the bearer is itself Darkness type. The card can therefore pay an Energy cost on another Pokémon without granting this offensive addition. Its printed effect clearly distinguishes the resource provided from the condition needed to hit harder.

A detail worth noticing
