The Pokémon’s story

Cyndaquil readily curls up on itself. Yet this timid posture hides a spectacular defense: when it feels attacked, flames rise from its back to protect it. Its reserve and power are not opposites. The little Pokémon does not necessarily seek to impress, but its body has a fiery response when its treasured peace is threatened.

A detail worth noticing

Cyndaquil is timid and ignites the flames on its back when threatened. Its Smokescreen deals 10 damage, then hinders the response: if the Defending Pokémon tries to attack on the opponent's next turn, a coin is flipped and tails makes the attack fail. Its defense depends on that later flip rather than gaining HP.
