CARDEX BACKGROUND

The role of this Energy

Team Rocket's Energy is reserved for Team Rocket's Pokémon. If it becomes attached to another Pokémon, its text requires discarding it. Within its permitted setting, it supplies two Energy in total, in any combination of Psychic and Darkness. You can therefore choose the combination matching the Pokémon's attack cost. This flexibility comes with a strict identity requirement: the group's name on the Pokémon matters as much as the Energy symbols.

Background on this Special Energy’s effect; the printed text, edition and finish of each card remain distinct.

A detail worth noticing

The text allows two Psychic Energy, two Darkness Energy, or one of each, while preventing continued attachment to a Pokémon outside Team Rocket. This restriction is not inferred from the artwork's colours: it appears explicitly in the card's rule.
