The story behind this Trainer card

Acerola's Mischief becomes usable when the opponent has two or fewer Prize cards remaining. You then choose one of your Pokémon in play to protect during the opponent's next turn. Attacks from opposing Pokémon ex will cause it neither damage nor effects. This defense is therefore limited in time, to one ally, and to a specific attacker category; it does not promise general invulnerability.

A detail worth noticing

Acerola's Mischief protects against attacks from opposing Pokémon ex. The text does not extend this to attacks from every enemy Pokémon. It also prevents their effects on the protected target, not just damage they would inflict.
